Skull Vortex by Sabet x Monzoni
I met Joss Monzoni on Instagram. I was scrolling one night and I was taken back by his work. Incredible lines, mind melting skulls and an ultra inspiring vibration that made me reach out and say — Who are you? This is how our friendship started, and even though he lives in Canada, we've been able to build on our friendship for over 2 years. His work is the only piece of art that hangs in my digital studio — a true testament to how I feel about his work. He recently visited me and we spent the day together. We chatted and painted and shared ideas of art, animation, film making and more. We both share a love for drawing skulls, even though his iconic skulls blow mine out of the water. We made only five pieces together that afternoon, and these are it. Joss laid down the skulls, those incredible skulls of his, in black ink, straight from the hand that made me reach out in the first place. Then each sheet came across the table to me and I did what I do: the calligraphy around the skull, the gold, the marks and flourishes that bring it home. Two artists on the same five Mini Originals, which doesn't happen often for either of us. Each one came out stronger than the last. It's a diary of one afternoon with a friend, and now the five of them are available for you to own forever.
