Twenty years of paintings, brands, and the road to the nightly room — in Ali's own words.
Born in Tehran. Raised in Southern California. Painting every day since 2015.
Ali Sabet was born in Tehran in 1976 and moved to the United States at ten. He drew through a war and a new language, and never put the pen down. Cal State Fullerton, then art director at Foote, Cone & Belding, then his own agency, Sabet Brands, in 1999.
In 2015 he walked away from twenty years of branding to paint full time. Sumi ink, Japanese brushes, Posca, and a script he channels called Lovescript. The women with the big eyes and long lashes. The Tokyo Punks. Pixopop. The Healing Codes. He calls the work high-frequency: made to heal, made to be lived with.
Since May 2026 he has put a new wall of it up for auction every single night at sabet.com. Every original leaves the studio signed, and every piece, original or print, comes with a numbered certificate, and most of them go to people who have never bought art before.

Born in Tehran. Drew through a war, then through a new language after moving to the United States at ten.
- 1999
Founded Sabet Brands in Irvine after Cal State Fullerton and an art-director chair at Foote, Cone & Belding. Twenty years of identity work follow, from El Torito to the Flipagram identity that later folded into TikTok.
- 2010
Pixopop. Characters made hoping they would be the next Hello Kitty; they found their moment twenty years later.
- 2015
Walked away from branding to paint full time. Sumi ink, Japanese brushes, Posca, and the script he channels called Lovescript.
- 2016
Tokyo International Art Fair. The trip he calls the turning point: the city that gave him the Japanese brush, the calm in the work, and the Tokyo Punks.
- 2017
Live painting with Montblanc at South Coast Plaza in support of UNICEF. Orange Coast Magazine feature.
- 2018
John Varvatos × Sabet. Perspectives 2018, the Outcast collection. A second Montblanc evening.
- 2019
KTLA 5 Morning News on Lovescript and the love symbols.
- 2021
Entered the NFT space and became one of its most collected painters. Montblanc: Inspire Writing (Assouline) prints his story as "Strokes of Genius", between Frida Kahlo and Ernest Hemingway.
- 2022
Tokyo Punks: 4,850 hand-painted punks, over 1,000 ETH traded. STRATOSPHERE, the largest Metaverse-and-IRL NFT art showcase of its year.
- 2026
The room. A new wall of paintings goes to auction every night at 5 PM Pacific, without a miss since May 15. Two stage nights, nearly 300 custom pieces painted for the guests at each.

“Strokes of Genius.” Between Frida Kahlo and Ernest Hemingway.
In Montblanc: Inspire Writing, the Assouline volume on the house and the people who write and draw with it, Sabet appears under the title “Strokes of Genius”, placed between Frida Kahlo and Ernest Hemingway. The relationship began with two private showings and live painting evenings at Montblanc boutiques, and continues in the ink he still paints with.
