The twenty-one
Each one sealed, slabbed and signed in gold. You don’t pick her. When your name is drawn, the Vortex chooses which of these finds you — and shows you, right then. What you see is what arrives.

Twenty-one came back through.
Then never again.
There is a place I go when I paint. I don’t have a better name for it than the Love Vortex. It’s the pull I feel when a face arrives before I’ve drawn it — eyes first, always — and the only job is to stay in the current long enough to catch her. For years I went there at night, on a screen, in the dark, layer over layer until the glow was right. The paintings stayed behind the glass. I always wanted to hold them.
So I brought twenty-one of them back through. Each is printed as a museum-grade giclée on heavy archival paper, and then I finish it by hand — the embellishment that makes it a one-of-one — sign it in gold, stamp it, seal it and slab it in acrylic so the light stays exactly as it was the night it arrived. Certified in your name. Twenty-one. I won’t make these again.
Choose 1–5.
Names are drawn; pieces find their collectors.
Which of the twenty-one is yours is not up to you. It’s revealed the moment your name comes up.
The rules, in full
- Members only. Claiming a spot takes a free account and a card on file; nothing is charged unless a piece is yours.
- One spot per person, for up to five pieces. You can always ask for more, up to five.
- Every evening at 5 PM Pacific, every open spot is drawn in random order and filled, up to its number, while pieces remain. There is no nightly cap.
- When the names outnumber the pieces, the order of the draw decides. A partly served spot stays in for the rest.
- You don’t choose the piece. When your name is drawn, one of the remaining pieces is chosen for you at random by the draw, and revealed to you that moment.
- $450 per piece, to the card on file, when your name comes up. Shipping is free worldwide; customs and duties are the collector’s.
- A card that doesn’t go through hands the piece to the next name that evening; fix the card and you’re back in the next draw.
- All sales are final. Certificates are issued in the collector’s name.
